CONSULTANT ORTHOPAEDIC KNEE SURGEON

Mr Navjot Bhangoo

Preserving. Repairing. Replacing the knee.

Mr Bhangoo specialises exclusively in the knee, providing individually tailored treatment from joint preservation and sports knee surgery to partial, total and robotic-assisted knee replacement.

His approach focuses on selecting the most appropriate treatment for each patient, considering their knee condition, age, activity level and longer-term goals.

PRESERVE. REPAIR. REPLACE.

Every knee is different, and the most appropriate treatment depends on more than a diagnosis alone.

Mr Bhangoo’s approach considers the condition of the joint, the patient’s age, activity level and longer-term goals — with an emphasis on preserving healthy structures wherever appropriate and selecting the right intervention at the right time.

01 — PRESERVE

Protecting the natural knee

Where appropriate, treatment focuses on maintaining the patient’s own joint, managing symptoms and preserving healthy tissue.

This may include non-surgical treatments, knee realignment procedures and other joint-preserving approaches.

02 — REPAIR

Restoring stability and function

For patients with ligament, meniscal or sports-related knee injuries, the aim is to restore stability, function and confidence in movement.

Treatment may include ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair and other specialist soft-tissue procedures.

03 — REPLACE

Replacing only what is necessary

When joint replacement is appropriate, Mr Bhangoo considers the extent and pattern of arthritis to determine whether partial or total knee replacement is most suitable.

His practice includes specialist partial knee replacement and robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery.

SPECIALIST KNEE SURGERY

Specialist expertise across the knee

Mr Bhangoo is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon whose practice focuses exclusively on the assessment and treatment of knee conditions.

His expertise spans sports-related injuries, ligament and meniscal surgery, joint preservation, knee realignment and partial and total knee replacement.

This breadth of specialist practice allows him to consider different treatment options according to the individual patient’s knee, symptoms and functional goals.

His clinical interests include minimally invasive knee surgery and care for patients across age groups.

Joint preservation & alignment

Knee realignment, osteotomy and procedures aimed at preserving the natural joint where appropriate.

Additional areas include knee injections, patellar realignment, tibial tubercle transfer and trochleoplasty.

Total & robotic-assisted knee replacement

Total knee replacement and robotic-assisted surgical techniques, with treatment planning tailored to the individual knee.

SPECIALIST KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY

Particular expertise in partial knee replacement

Partial knee replacement is a particular area of specialist interest within Mr Bhangoo’s knee replacement practice.

For patients whose arthritis affects only one part of the knee, partial knee replacement may offer an alternative to total knee replacement, allowing healthy compartments, bone and important ligaments to be preserved.

Mr Bhangoo’s approach places considerable emphasis on careful patient selection, detailed assessment and choosing the most appropriate procedure for each individual knee.

His practice also encompasses more complex partial knee replacement procedures, including selected bilateral cases and patients with additional ligament or alignment considerations.

TECHNOLOGY & PRECISION

Robotic-assisted knee replacement

Mr Bhangoo incorporates robotic-assisted technology into his specialist knee replacement practice, combining detailed surgical planning with his experience and clinical judgement.

Robotic systems can provide additional information about the patient’s individual anatomy and assist with surgical planning, implant positioning and the precise execution of the planned procedure.

The technology supports the surgeon rather than replacing their expertise. Decisions about whether to use robotic assistance are based on the individual patient’s knee, clinical needs and the most appropriate surgical approach.
